wired.archpackage mirror

installation guide

Install Arch from this mirror

A concise manual installation for a UEFI machine with one empty disk. Keep the official installation guide open for encrypted disks, dual boot, unusual storage, or hardware-specific notes.

01

Boot and connect

Boot the current Arch ISO in UEFI mode. Ethernet normally configures itself; for Wi-Fi, use iwctl.

cat /sys/firmware/efi/fw_platform_size
ip link
iwctl
# station wlan0 connect YOUR_NETWORK
ping -c 3 archlinux.org
timedatectl set-ntp true

The firmware command should print 64 on a typical x86_64 UEFI system.

02

Partition and mount

Destructive step: replace the example device with the correct empty target disk. Confirm it with lsblk before writing a partition table.

lsblk
fdisk /dev/nvme0n1
# Create a 1 GiB EFI System partition and use the remainder for Linux root.

mkfs.fat -F 32 /dev/nvme0n1p1
mkfs.ext4 /dev/nvme0n1p2
mount /dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt
mount --mkdir /dev/nvme0n1p1 /mnt/boot
03

Select wired.arch

Prepend this mirror to the live environment, verify its repository database, then install the base system.

cp /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup
sed -i '1i Server = https://this-host/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch' /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
curl -fI https://this-host/archlinux/core/os/x86_64/core.db

pacstrap -K /mnt base linux linux-firmware networkmanager sudo vim
genfstab -U /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab
arch-chroot /mnt

Pacman still verifies repository databases and packages against the Arch keyring. HTTPS changes the transport path, not the package trust model.

04

Configure the system

Set timezone, clock, locale, hostname, root password, and networking while inside the chroot.

ln -sf /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Moscow /etc/localtime
hwclock --systohc
sed -i 's/^#en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8/en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8/' /etc/locale.gen
locale-gen
echo 'LANG=en_US.UTF-8' > /etc/locale.conf
echo 'archbox' > /etc/hostname
passwd
systemctl enable NetworkManager
05

Bootloader and user

Install systemd-boot, create its Arch entry, then add an administrator account. Replace the root partition UUID and username.

bootctl install
ROOT_UUID=$(blkid -s UUID -o value /dev/nvme0n1p2)
cat > /boot/loader/loader.conf <<'EOF'
default arch.conf
timeout 3
console-mode max
editor no
EOF
cat > /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf <
06

Finish and reboot

Leave the chroot, unmount the target, and remove the installation medium after shutdown begins.

exit
umount -R /mnt
reboot

After first boot, run sudo pacman -Syu. The mirror line installed by pacstrap remains in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.
